Curtis spent his most significant school years at Sherwood Mills Public School where he fostered friendships and learned from amazing teachers. Aside from taking part at the Memorial Walk, Sherwood Mills decided to fundraise year-long with a few signature events to help continue Curtis’ fight.
On November 24, 2011, the evening before what would have been Curtis’ 13th birthday, friends and teachers remembered him with one of his favorite movies – Karate Kid. Students and parents bought tickets and packed the school gym in pajamas.
Along with their Canadian Tire $ Raffle, over $3,000 was raised and they planned to reach the school’s $10,000 goal in Spring of 2012 with their next event.
